Alcalà
The situation of the holiday apartments directly by the sea in Alcalá is extremely beautiful, you will hear nothing but the permanent sound of the sea. The terraces are facing south. Our holiday apartments and our vacation house Maresia were renovated with care and offer everything so that you can spend lucky and relaxing vacations.
Alcalá and Playa de San Juan are small seaside villages where the atmosphere of a fishermen village can still be felt. Alcalá has no high-rise buildings, souvenir dealers or noisy bars and is still largely undamaged by mass tourism. Its heart is a charming Spanish Plaza with restaurants, cafes and Tapas bars, every monday a farmer’s market day takes place on the Plaza.
Everything you need is accesible within a five minutes walk – supermarket, butcher, bakery, farmacy, etc. There are several bays and beaches which are protected by lava rocks from the open sea in walking distance from our holiday apartments. Just 30 meters from the Plaza there is the sea with a small sandy beach and a big sunbathing terrace of volcano stones heated up by the sun which is very pleasant to sit and lay there enjoying the healing effect on the back musculature. The sun terrace is highly appreciated by the guests especially in winter time after taking a bath in the sea. You’ll find other sandy beaches and a seawater pool in front of the luxurious Melia Palace Hotel in walking distance. Alcalá & Playa de San Juan are definitely worth visiting.
These are open for the public and offer a beachfront restaurant too. Another large sandy beach area is in the fishing port of Playa San Juan. You can reach it by car/bus or by a short taxi ride (€ 5,-) within 5 minutes or by walking 45 min directly along the sea. Other places to visit around are the famous rocks of Los Gigantes, the beach area of Playa La Arena and a ride up to the “Teide”-mountain area with the famous villages of Masca and Chirche where the times seem to have stopped since the fifties.
A large fine sandy beach is located at the fishing port of Playa San Juan. Alcalá and Playa San Juan are neighbouring villages, five minutes apart by car or by a 45min walk directly along the sea. The beautiful sandy beach is next to the fishing harbour and the pier and is therefore protected from the wind and waves, even in strong swells. The black sand gives off plenty of warmth even in winter and is popular with tourists and locals all year round. Parasols and beach chairs are available for rent, as well as showers/WC facilities and free parking. On the beach promenade you will find some very good restaurants and cafes, e.g. the fish restaurant “Agua y Sal”, the taperia “La Boca Rie” or directly in the harbour a small restaurant with freshly caught fish, which is only open at lunchtime. Small shops invite you to shop and a diving school under competent German management is highly recommended Pamadiving Tenerife
Good bus connections to the holiday’s centre of Los Cristianos and Playa la Americas as well as to Los Gigantes and to the airport. By car it takes approx. 25 min to the airport. Taxi stand 5 min by foot from the holiday apartments. A local Centro Medico is around the corner, a German doctor (also speaks English and Spanish well) continuously available.
